Tide To Table: The 2023 Virtual Experience

Immersed in a purpose-led endeavour, the Tide To Table 2023 Virtual Experience, encapsulated the ethos of appreciation, connection, and conservation. In honour of the renowned philanthropist Hans Hoheisen, known for his deep commitment to wildlife preservation and environmental conservation, the event paid homage to his enduring legacy.

Hans Hoheisen's profound impact continues to be felt through the Hans Hoheisen Charitable Trust, overseen and managed by the NedGroup Trust, which remains dedicated to the preservation and conservation of South Africa's rich fauna and flora.

The Concept & Setup

Following the success of last year's event, the shores of Kwa Zulu Natal provided an enchanting backdrop for this year's virtual gathering. Streamed to 200 esteemed guests, the evening witnessed a heartfelt union between philanthropy and artisanal support, with each guest receiving a meticulously curated box brimming with handpicked local delights.

The Evening Unveiled

The first hour unfolded against the breathtaking Durban beachfront. Adorned with the wit of Nik Rabinowitz, our NPO's - SAAMBR, WESSA, and WildTrust were revered for their relentless commitment to nature's conservation, embodying the spirit of the event. While our artist Nico Phooko painted his vibrant masterpiece within the aquarium, each gift from the bespoke hamper was unveiled, narrating the tale of local craftsmanship and dedication.

With the AfroDivas, transitioning us seamlessly into the submerged world of the uShaka Aquarium, the event's second hour dived deeper into the marine-theme. Culinary enchantment stirred with Sugar Baron's captivating cane cocktail demonstration, culminating with Zola Nene's delectable rendition of the famed Durban classic, the bunny chow. Our eco-warrior, Romario Valentine and our last two NPO's - Birdlife and WWF showed us the importance of all-round sustained conservation efforts. Overcoming challenges of limited setup time and technical intricacies within the aquarium, the event flourished, thanks to meticulous planning and dedicated teamwork.
